I've been politically active, to my own detriment, since circa 06. I traveled to Grant Park in 08 to see America elect our nation's first black President.

When I left Chicago I thought our problems were over. I thought Obama would take care of things.

Then I started to see things unravel. I went to protests. Things got worse. In 2016 I canvassed for Bernie Sanders. I watched the Democratic Party sideline him. I was pissed. Because Bernie would have beat Trump. I'm still pissed.

Then in 2020 I watched Bernie get it again from the Democratic establishment machine ("machine"), in the South Carolina primaries.

In 2024 the machine stood up Biden, we didn't even have primaries. Then they installed Harris. This from a party that claims to be about democracy.

It's great that people are going to protest next weekend. I'll be there. But if people think we're going to shine up the Democratic Party, or, we'll win back power because the media is saying Trump is unpopular, they're sorely mistaken.

The right has executed a takeover plan that began in the early 1940's with great precision. Jane Mayer writes it about in her seminal book "Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right".

We are now up against an army that controls all aspects of our government and the military. Trump has his own paramilitary that's growing in numbers. The right has unlimited funds and unlimited power.

The way I see it there's only two paths to defeating Trump - divestment, or soft secession, what Chris Armitage writes about. And, forming a citizens group that's millions strong.

We the people must take control of the Democratic Party. We the people need to take control away from the machine - consultants and the swine in the billions dollar business that makes bank whether they win or lose elections.

A citizens group that's millions strong would force Democrats to work for us, instead of their donor class. The people would do an end around on the machine that stands over us with their boot on our necks, while telling us they're helping us.

With divestment/soft secession and a citizens group, "things will change". Because, "the powers that be" will fear us "more than they fear fascists".

If not, all that's going to happen is by 2026 the politicians who we think are so promising will veer back to the middle. Back to the safe place. Candidates who won't stand up to Israel, who aren't really against corruption, or for the working class. More of the same. Because that's what Democrats have done for years now. The net is that another 80 million or so eligible voters won’t show up. But the machine made bank.

Frederick Douglass said, “Power and those in control concede nothing…without a demand. Hey never have and never will…Each and every one of us must keep demanding, must keep fighting, must keep thundering, must keep plowing, must keep on keeping things struggling, must speak out and speak up until justice is served because where is no justice there is no peace”.

Go to the march. While you’re there, please talk to those around you. Find radicals who believe in what's written here. Because radical is what’s needed now. Then go make it happen. I'll be there with ya.
