Showing up is half of democracy. The other half is organizing.
Indivisible has another rally planned for March 28, 2026. But where's an organized effort to unite Democrats on a platform centered around the working class?
I just sent this to the Indivisible folks.
Democrats are scattered and unorganized. It's why they keep losing elections. Their demonstrably lack of organization or a coherent message coupled with the fact that they all but abandoned the working class years ago is what gave way to Trump.
First, everyone interested in defeating Trump should watch the Hulu docudrama, Mrs. America. Mrs. America is an accurate depiction of Phyllis Schlafly, a powerful and conservative organizer. The left should study Phyllis's accomplishments and steal a page or two from her playbook.

Next. The Notorious RBG said, "Protests are important. But changing the culture means nothing if the law doesn't change". She was right.
We need to organize around a simple to understand platform that's easy to tell others about. What is that? An updated version of FDR's Economic Bill of Rights.
I think these two pieces speak to the mess we're in, which Democrats are largely responsible for.

Democrats, and the Democratic establishment - which includes Indivisible - mostly created this problem. How? Because they abandoned the working class years ago. By failing to live up to promises, over and over. Because "hope and change" turned out to be more of the same. By turning their backs to the fact that Democrats are led by their donor class. So what did people do? They voted for Trump.
What FDR said, "the hope of getting something to eat":
"Democracy has disappeared in several other great nations, not because the people of those nations disliked democracy, but because they had grown tired of unemployment and insecurity, of seeing their children hungry while they sat helpless in the face of government confusion and government weakness through lack of leadership,” he said in a 1938 radio address. “Finally, in desperation, they chose to sacrifice liberty in the hope of getting something to eat.”
On balance Democrats still won't admit they caused the mess we're in. Invisible is still calling for a repeat of their failures - i.e., more protests.
Democrats need to clearly state what they stand for and why that matters to working class people everywhere.
But no, they're not doing that. Instead, it's more protests. More wasted time on social media engaging with sock puppets and bots.
Democrats won't even get behind Medicare for All. They're still lionizing Obama. Obama, who didn't have the guts to charge the bankers with fraud or go for Medicare for All. Obama, who made bank and has a home in Hamptons. Obama has largely been silent while our nation burns.
Democrats don't stand for anything. All voters know is they're against Trump. They’re so hapless they couldn’t even beat Trump, the worst Presidential candidate in United States history. Being against Trump didn't work in 016 and 024. It won't work now.
We the people have to take control of the Democratic Party. How? By organizing and demanding that Democrats do what we tell them to. Democrats need to work for us, instead of their donor class.
It's not entirely hopeless. As Sirota points out AOC seems to be coming around. Mamdani won in NYC. So yes, there's hope. But AOC and Zohran are already facing challenge from the Democratic establishment and their shadow the abundance crowd. The Democratic establishment will work to side line AOC and Mamdani, same as they did to Bernie.
Defeating Trump starts with defeating the Democratic establishment. How? We the people form a citizens group that’s millions strong. The citizens group would demand that Democratic candidates running for local, state, and federal office back an updated version of FDR’s Economic Bill of Rights.
